{Real Parties}Hot Pink and Turquoise First Birthday Party

This post is looonnggg overdue! It's from back in May and it's my daughter's first birthday party. The theme was inspired by an invitation designed by Anders Ruff. The saying on the invite was “My Oh My, How the First Year Flew By.” Some of the decor was inspired by Kara (of Kara's Party Ideas) Bunco party.

I wound up concentrating more on the colors (hot pink and turquoise) than the actual theme because of time constraints. I had a ton of other “themey” things planned that I was not able to get to. The party’s main attractions were the 2 dessert tables I set up and the décor . I created a balloon wreath for the front door, party printables (inspired by The TomKat Studio) and little felt birdies (tutorial on Bird’s Party). For all the other items I used amazing vendors such as Sweeties by Kim and other vendors listed at the bottom of the post. I had a lot of fun planning it and executing it and I am already thinking about her 2nd birthday!

{Real Parties} Damask Baby Shower - Black, White and Hot Pink!

My friend Ang and I hosted a baby shower for our friend Jessee last weekend. It was a "sprinkle" shower and she is awaiting the arrival of her third child. She has 2 boys already, so just in case she has a third boy (she's Team Green), we decided to give her a girly shower!

The palette we chose was an elegant black & white damask pattern with hot pink accents.  The backdrop are ruffled sheers from Pottery Barn Kids. Aren't they lovely?   Andreap | designs created the gorgeous cupcake toppers, napkin rings and one of the banners.  Stay tuned for an upcoming giveaway which will include her "Baby Shower" banner and the damask printable collection!!

This beautiful fancy Jessee banner is from Malu Boutiques.  I had the shop saved in my Etsy favorites and I am so glad I decided to order it. It was gorgeous and it fit the theme perfectly!  It was also great quality!

{Tutorial} How to Make a Balloon Wreath

I started making balloon wreaths a few months ago after seeing them on a few blogs. They are so easy (and cheap) to make and can be used for just about any event. A trip to Michael's and Party City is all you need to get started!

Follow these simple instructions on how to make your own balloon wreath.

First you'll need:

- Lots and lots of balloons! I used about 3 packs of 72 count balloons from Party City. Of course this will vary depending on the size of the wreath and balloons you are using.

- Greening pins. These can be found in the floral section of your local craft store.

- Round wreath (or any shape you want). I use a 16" Styrofoam circle. You can also use a straw wreath (keep the plastic on it).

- Ribbon

Directions:

- Take ribbon and wrap it around your Styrofoam wreath to cover up the white. I have also used tulle and it works great as well! I do this so the Styrofoam is not exposed. I also think it's a nice finishing touch.

- Then take a greening pin and stick the balloon in the middle of it (without puncturing the balloon)

- Once you have done the above step, you just stick the pin in the Styrofoam. You'll do this over and over and over again until the wreath is as full as you want it to be.

I told you it was easy, didn't I?

I am so excited to share a few sneak peaks of a FABULOUS Sailboat party! Seriously, it blew me away! It comes from Denise from NY and the party was for her son's 2nd birthday party. She did such an amazing job.

I have lots and lots of pictures to share and a Q&A with Denise about the party and her inspiration. She is seriously one talented mama!
